If being on the front line is something that interests you, then becoming an EMT is for you.
The EMT training course is approximately 240 hours long and is taught at various course sites throughout the county and state. In addition to the state certification, we provide additional training both in-house and off-site; much of which is mandatory in order to ride on the ambulance.
If you are twenty-one or older, and hold a valid New Jersey driver’s license with a good driving record, you may be eligible to join as an Emergency Vehicle Operator (Driver/Lifter Only).
All drivers must obtain CPR certifications, complete a Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) course, a Defensive Driving course, as well as completing an internal vehicle operator’s course. In addition there may be additional training mandated by New Jersey State First Aid Council, state, local and federal laws and guidelines. All Allendale Ambulance Corps Driver/Lifters are integral parts of the ambulance crew and routinely assist the Emergency Medical Technicians with equipment and manpower on emergency calls.
So you don’t think being an EMT or an Emergency Vehicle Operator is right for you? That’s okay! The Allendale Ambulance Corps offers an Auxiliary class of membership.
Auxiliary members help with administrative tasks, serve on committees, help with special projects and events, and assist in non-emergency roles that directly benefit the ambulance corps.
If you have special talents or wish to help out from behind the scenes please email us and someone will contact you shortly.
Allendale has flexible shift scheduling. We will work with your availability.
